Who’s eating my beet??
This is a depressing sight. Some bastard has been nibbling my beetroot.
I have a whole new row of these ready, and I was looking forward to harvesting them… when I found this. On every bloody plant.
I suspect mice. The tiny teeth marks are fairly diagnostic.
I could weep. This season is my worst ever. I’ve never had such a poor harvest and/or such rapacious weeds.

It’s dreadful when this kind of thing happens.
I wish there were ways of making sympathetic groans look realistic in print.

Thanks for kind words, all. I shouldn’t really moan. As ever, some crops prosper while others fail. Never had better potatoes than this year, for instance.

I had the very same thing happen – all within 3 weeks – help! I would like to know what ate the beets – every single one. This is the first year it happened.
I had both mice and rabbits in the garden.
