Heatwave approaching!

RosebudsHurrah! It’s going to be a long, hot summer. The UK Meteorological Office says so. It must be true!

Bloody hope so. After the deluges that passed for summers in 2007 and 2008, we’re owed a Jamaican-style tropical meltdown, I reckon. Confess I’m daring to hope, because I’ve had a feeling since February that the summer would be good. I can’t point to one single thing on the allotment that’s been, well, ‘different’. It’s just been a feeling.

There’s warm weather in the air. I’m sure of it.

Many of the chaps on the allotment site I’m on have also has this feeling. If it means that we might avoid blight and I might actually get some edible tomoatoes then I’ll be a very happy FlowerPowerGirl.

    I believe in the trees…

Ash before Oak, we’re in for a soak Oak before Ash, we’re in for a splash.

Well the local Oak’s are coming into leaf and the Ash’s buds are hardly breaking. Bring on summer!

Love that tree rhyme, Celia. Sure it’s correct this year. Things have just been… unusual this Spring. The air smells different and the soil feels different. Certainly very different from the last two seasons. Wish I could explain what it is.

I hope so! we sure do need one! I have taken some gambles in the garden this year, planted some warmer climate veggies such as New Zealand spinach and Queensland blue pumpkin. They will thrive if we get a baking Summer!

Yes have heard we’re in for a 30 degree summer. Shame I’ll be stuck in office all week. At least I’m right next to a large park.
