Ready or not: Sweetcorn is go

Sweetcorn seedlingsDone it at last… and already I’m nervous. The weather has taken a turn for the worse today. If we get frost again, I think I’ll lose it completely. What kind of crappy year are we having??

I’m going a bit easy on the corn this year. Last season’s crop was so sensational that we gorged ourselves nightly for what felt like months. It was all a bit much – and despite a 12-month lay-off, I’m still not that enthusiastic at the prospect of more.

I planted my sweetcorn out just over a week ago and it seems to be OK so far. Like you though I’m very nervous about late frosts. The weather seems to be all over the place this year! Fingers crossed for both of us!

Yeah it’ll be fine. I’m putting out tomatoes and squashes today, sweetcorn went out a week ago. Forecast is to turn warmer end of this week. Relax and enjoy!

Looks like BP have been at work on your plot SM. I tried growing sweetcorn once – It didn’t like it. Greetings from Edinburgh.

I can’t see another frost this late. Mind you, I didn’t see the one in May either. Shit, now you’re making me paranoid…
